“Hey Catherine,” I greeted coming into the break room
“Hey Rick,” she said looking up from her coffee cup, “what’s up.”
“Trying to get some peace,” I told her
“I’m supposing you mean from Nick and Greg,” Cath asked
“Yeah I went with him and Greg out to a scene,” I answered, “the tension was unbearable.”
“I know,” she sighed
“You know what’s up with them,” I asked
“Sure,” Cath answered, “a week ago Nick, Greg, Sarah, and I went out for drinks. Nick and Greg got really drunk and ended up going back to Nick’s place. From what Greg said they did something stupid and they have been ignoring each other since.”
“You think they slept together,” I said surprised
“Oh, I know they did,” she replied, “its about time.”
“Uh huh,” I agreed, “wonder why their acting this way through.”
“Well Greg probably because he thinks Nick is just wanting to forget it happened and Nick because he’s confused cause of how he was brought up in Texas,” Catherine said
“They’ll figure it out eventually,” I said
“Yeah let’s hope so,” she agreed
One Week Later
“Greg would you turn that crap down,” Nick snapped across the front seat
“It’s not crap Stokes,” Greg snapped back
They had been doing this for the last two weeks. It was getting hard to work with either of them anymore. The entire office was starting to avoid staying in a room with both of them for more than a few minutes.
“Would you guys knock it off,” I said from the back seat
“Knock what off,” Nick asked
“You guys have been biting each others heads of for two weeks. Figure out the crap that’s getting in the way. Working with either of you anymore is a pain in the ass and if you don’t get it straightened out Grissom is going to get a few recommendations,” I said looking from one to the other as I talked.
Both of them shut up right away. Nick looked straight ahead focusing on the road and Greg reached over turning off the radio before looking out the window.
One Week Later
“Your evidence isn’t trace it should be in the DNA lab not here,” Hodges said
“I wonder why Greg didn’t notice that,” I said out loud
“Uh he’s not here today,” Hodges said, “neither is Nick I thought you knew that.”
“Nope I didn’t,” I told him
“Yeah him and Nick finally worked it out,” He told me
“How do you know that,” I asked
“Oh I walked in on them making out in the break room before shift. Not something I really wanted to see," he said
“Finally they figured it out,” I said, “see you Hodges.”
“Yeah see you,” he said heading back to his lab
Two Days Later
I walked into the break room to see Greg and Nick sitting side by side on the couch talking quietly. They moved apart when they realized someone had walked into the room.
“Hey guys dont move on account of me. So I see you figured it out,” I commented
“Yeah what do you think,” Greg asked
“I think its about time,” I told them laughing
“Awesome,” Nick said
“Yeah,” Greg said
I watched them for a few seconds sitting on the couch and I knew that they would be together for a long time. Both of them looked so content to just be sitting here. I smiled into my coffee cup wondering how long it would be before the rest of the office knew because neither of them are very good at keeping secrets when it comes to love.
